Why we access Health & Fitness data
AquaUp accesses the following data from Apple Health:
- Sleep Analysis (read) — used to detect your wake-up time and schedule hydration reminders aligned to your morning rhythm.
- Dietary Water (write) — used to log your water intake so every glass stays in sync with your daily wellbeing data in Apple Health.
These are the only Health categories the app accesses. Sleep data is read-only. Water intake is write-only. No other health or fitness data is accessed.
On-device only, no cloud services
All data stays on your device. AquaUp has no backend server, makes no network requests, and connects to no cloud services of any kind. Reminder settings, drink presets, and daily intake totals are stored locally. Historical data is automatically pruned to the last 14 days. Nothing is uploaded, synced, or transmitted anywhere.
What we don't do
- No account is required.
- No analytics, advertising SDKs, or third-party trackers are used.
- No personal data is sold, shared, or disclosed to data brokers or any third party.
- No data leaves your device, ever.
Notifications
AquaUp uses local notifications to remind you to drink water. These are scheduled entirely on your device and do not involve any remote push service. You can disable notifications at any time in iOS Settings.
Revoking access
If you revoke Health access in iOS Settings, the app falls back to a manual wake-up time for scheduling reminders and will no longer write water intake to Apple Health (intake is still tracked locally in the app). You can re-enable access at any time.
