Why we access Health & Fitness data
NightRecovery reads the following data from Apple Health to compute a personalized overnight recovery score:
- Heart Rate Variability (HRV SDNN) — used as the primary recovery signal, weighted at 40% of the score.
- Resting Heart Rate — used to detect cardiovascular stress and fatigue, weighted at 25%.
- Sleep Analysis (stages and duration) — used to assess sleep quality and efficiency, weighted at 25%.
- Respiratory Rate — used as a secondary recovery signal, weighted at 10%.
Each metric is compared against your personal 30-day rolling baseline to produce the recovery score. The app requests read-only access to Apple Health. It never writes data to HealthKit. No other health or fitness categories are accessed.
On-device only, no cloud services
All computation happens entirely on your device. NightRecovery has no backend server, makes no network requests, and connects to no cloud services of any kind. Recovery scores, baselines, and all derived data are stored locally on your device. Nothing is uploaded, synced, or transmitted anywhere.
What we don't do
- No account is required.
- No analytics, advertising SDKs, or third-party trackers are used.
- No personal data is sold, shared, or disclosed to data brokers or any third party.
- No data leaves your device, ever.
Revoking access
If you revoke Health access in iOS Settings, the app can no longer read your health data and will not compute new recovery scores. Previously computed scores remain on your device until you delete the app. You can re-enable access at any time.
